Hi all,
On an IE-4010 switch I have configured port 13 as a trunk port and shutdown the port. However, SFP was installed and patch lead was connected. Interface 13 LED was off. I have configured the alarm relay option for this interface. During normal operation there was no alarm as port was shutdown.
However, when I power cycle the switch after it boot up it gives a Link Fault alarm. But when I do some activity such as remove SFP (or if SFP was not installed in the first place, installing SFP) clears the alarm note that still the port was shutdown. I would like to understand the reason behind this. Why there is an alarm when the port is shutdown? Why is it coming only after power cycle?
Any advises would be highly appreciated.
