     Hey Guys,

Just a quick question, is there any difference (besides colour) between the Cisco IE 3000 line & the Rockwell Stratix 8000 series?

I cannot find any reason for one vendor over the other. I know they are rebadged, is that it? Basically Network team want cisco, factory engineers want rockwell

Hi James,

The difference between the Cisco IE3000 and the Rockwell Automation Stratix 8000 is the integration capability into a Rockwell Automation controller. The Stratix 8000 is able to behave like an input/output device in the automation environment meaning (among other things) that automation maintenance teams can respond faster to correct any problems in the event that something is not working properly. The same level of integration into the control system is not possible with the IE3000.

From the perspective of a network engineer however, the two products are identical.

Hope that helps.
