Hi, We are planning to replace our existing core switch 3750 stack model, because it is 10 years old now. Please give a suggestion for a replacement model in our organization for 300 users.

very generic question If your going for like for like its 3850 series will do but there are other options like 4500s that are module based and lower 3650s too

it all depends on what your current stack is doing and operating at too , what services are enabled and in use , and do you need to future proof it with more port count for new users

what your budget is too plays a major part in it , do you want to stay with 1gb or go 10gb user level

is the core stack doing any routing or is it just switching and the routers are looking after the routing , check what license your current stack is using too

Hi Mark, Thanks for your comment. Please find below details for your information.

witch Ports Model              SW Version            SW Image
------ ----- -----              ----------            ----------
*    1 12    WS-C3750G-12S      12.2(55)SE8           C3750-IPSERVICESK9-M
     2 12    WS-C3750G-12S      12.2(55)SE8           C3750-IPSERVICESK9-M

And we have Router after this core switch. Distribution switches, ASA  are connected this switch. Is 3850 is suitable for my current requirement ?

so that model would have been replaced by the X series

WS-C3750G-12S-S

Catalyst 3750 12 SFP + IPB Image

WS-C3750X-12S-S

Catalyst 3750X 12 Port GE SFP IP Base

X series is now being replaced by 3850 model

WS-C3750X-12S-S

Catalyst 3750X 12 Port GE SFP IP Base

WS-C3850-12S-S

Cisco Catalyst 3850 12 Port GE SFP IP Base

so looks like the exact replacement for that switch in terms of eol and it is

WS-C3850-12S-S

The 3850 is the next generation after the 3750 so it can do everything it can do and more , this is a like for like replacement fo what you have provided as per the docs attached showing the eol path

3850G is available or not ?

all 3850s are 1gb or 10gb , don't think there is a FE model so hence there is no need to call them 3850G , 3750G was to differentiate between the GB and FE models

heres where you can see aal 3850s you can buy

Hi, Please confirm whether the below model is compatible for core switch or not ? Model: WS-C3850-24T-E Catalyst 3850 Switch Detail: Cisco Catalyst 3850 24 Port Data IP Services

The 3750G-12S is a rather unique model, in that it has extra TCAM resources and special SDM templates to be used as/in small core or distribution role.  I may be mistaken, but I don't recall any of the later 3Ks, i.e. 3750E/3750-X/3650/3850 have a model with a larger TCAM.

If you don't need the larger TCAM, and with only 300 users, you probably don't, the 3650/3850 series would be the "current" successor series.  Again, though, unsure any 3650/3850 provides equivalent TCAM resources as the 3750G-12S.  If true, that might be because Cisco offers the 4500-X, and more recently, the 6840, which as a VSS pair, would also serve very well as a small core or distribution.  Although both might be considered "better" than the 3650/3850s, their higher prices might be a problem.

If you're not in a super rush to replace, you might wait as see if Cisco announces anything that might address your replacement need before the end of the year.  For example, Cisco Live is end of June, and maybe they will announce something then.

Hi Joseph, Thanks for your information, let me go through the technical comparison of 3750G and 3850.
