Inserting SFP cause error-disabled on port

inserting SFP Cisco 100BaseFX-FE SFP into 3850-48u  causes following error:
Nov 5 10:51:40.305: %PLATFORM_PM-6-MODULE_ERRDISABLE: The inserted SFP module with interface name Gi2/1/2 is not supported
Nov 5 10:51:40.305: %PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: gbic-invalid error detected on Gi2/1/2, putting Gi2/1/2 in err-disable state

we are running 03.06.06.E
SFP works oke in cisco 2960S so it is not broken.

I tried with the following

3850(config)# no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid
3850(config)# service unsupported-transceiver

Removing SFP module, shutdown/no shutdown the port, insertnig back the SFP module.
but now

Switch now states “unknown device” and port does not become active.

Could it be this type (Cisco 100BaseFX-FE) is no longer supported ? Although i can not find such statement.
I tried with an cisco 100BaseFX, and that runs fine.
