Interface Compatibility between 10G & 1G

Hi All,

I had Cisco CISCO7606-S Switch fully loaded with WS-X6704-10GE Modules and needs to connect SRX Firewall with 1Gig Fiber/Optical.

Need support from someone to confirm If this works or not: 10G on CISCO7606 with speed set to 1G and SRX firewall with 1G connected by a 10G fiber cable.

Won't work.  10 Gbps will only negotiate to the same speed.  Same thing with 1 Gbps link.

Links should be the same.  If you need 1 Gbps then see if you have any spare 1 Gbps ports available on your 7606 chassis.

I too believe that i dont work and waiting for some spare hardware to test to make sure 100%.

I dont have any feasibility of 1G on 7606 and the option will be to upgrade Firewall to 10G.

would highly appreciate if someone could provide testing results or exact reference link from Cisco.
