Interface reset

Hi,

We are having Cisco 2960X switches for access-layer. From past one week we are noticing sudden drop on voip & meeting sessions with Skype, Webex, Teams. After doing troubleshooting we noticed that there is increase in interface reset on switchport connecting to end-user. We would like to know if Interface reset can cause Network connection issues like drop in connections.

Hi,

3 resets is not a whole a lot. Can you post the output of "sh int g1/0/24 and also "sh run int g1/0/24"?

I cleared counters on the interface. when a meeting is going user connections are getting disconnected. I have noticed an increment interface reset of 18 counters. Then again I have noticed 3 recent errors.

So, this port is connecting to an access point? I also see this

Total output drops: 692134

For testing, can you hard set the interface to whatever speed the access point support and monitor again?

I hard reset the interface speed to 1000.

I agree with @Reza Sharifi that the total output drops may be significant. An interface reset reflects a situation where the interface has attempted to send data but has not been successful. After a number of attempts to retransmit have not been successful the interface will reset in an attempt to clear the issue. The number of total output drops might suggest a capacity mismatch between the switch and the access point.
