Hi,
I have a server with two Intel x552 SFP+ interfaces. These contain 2 Intel 1Gb/10Gb dual speed SFPs (Intel official). The server is running ESX and it states that the interfaces are connected, running 1Gb.

The other side is connected is connected to a 2960x SFP port, containing a GLC-SX-MMD. But I also tried a 2960S. Both switch run the latest IOS. Cables used are OM3 MM (2m)
On the Cisco side, is shows 'notconnect':

However, running diagnostics, it shows a connection:

If I switch cable end, I get a -40 value for the diagnostics (no connection) so I think I can assume cabling is okay.
The port config is:

switchport nonegotiate
spanning-tree portfast edge trunk
end
Also tried with switchport nonegotiate.
What could be the issue?

Hi,
Can you try a different SFP port on the switch? Maybe Gi1/0/26?

thanks for reply.
What I have tried during my investigation:
- Other SFP (GLC-SX-MMD) on Cisco side
- Other SFP (Intel certified) on Intel NIC side
- GLC-SX-MMD in Intel adapter (it is stated on various sites this one is also accepted by the Intel card) (so GLC-SX-MMD on both sides of the fiber)
- Updated driver on ESXi side
- Other port on 2960X (1/0/27)
- Other switch (2960S) (as mentioned in original post)
- Downgraded IOS version on 2960S (from 15.2(2)E9 to 15.2(2)E8), because I thought it might have something to do with CSCvf56802, and upgraded again
- Changed fiber cable
- Interchanged fibers on fiber cable (as mentioned in original post)
Every step was followed bij a reboot of both the server and the switch.
But still: no happy ending.
