IOS XE and Call-home

Since upgrading to 16.9.4 I have had so many problems with switch IOS upgrades. I do not want the Smart licensing or call-home features. We just tested migrating from 16.9.4 to 16.9.5 and it failed. I don't want this series, anymore. Do the other IOS XE series' come with Smart licensing and call-home? If not, it is time to switch.

Any switch running 16.9.X (and later) will have Smart Licensing enabled.  You have several options to play with: 

• Stay with the latest 16.3.X; or
• If you don't like Smart Licensing &/or Call Home, then don't enable either (or both).  Nothing bad is going to happen.  The only thing you will see are the spam messages in the logs about Smart Licensing.
