IPTV set top box can't get ip address from its server in different vlan

Hi,

As description, iptv set top box can't get ip address from its dhcp server

If we put the set top box with the server on the same vlan . it work

on different vlans , it didn't get ip address.

they are connected to the same switch that contain the gateway for both as interface vlans

we tried ip helper-address also multicast routing is configured and working

Do you think it need special configuration to reach the server on the other vlan ?

Thanks

Hi

It should just need the helper address on the vlan interface so it can push the dhcp packet to it , multicast has no part in how it obtains its address

did you debug the dhcp to see if the packet is reach the server , and to see if the request is being sent or requested

this guide below has an example how to debug the cli for dhcp , or you could span the traffic in wireshark see whats going on , stick laptop on same port and vlan as the ip box setup wireshark on it and see if requests are going back and forth or not
