Hi,

If two servers are on the same VLAN, can they communicate and send traffic via ipv6 without the need of a router?

My understanding is the switch can forward traffic within the same VLAN.

I would like someone to confirm and explain more to me.

Thanks,

vnt

Hi vnt,

You are right.

if two servers are on the same vlan, they can communicate with each other without a router. A switch can forward the l2 traffic within the same broadcast domain. ipv4 or ipv6 doesnt make any difference in this scenario.

Pls rate if it helps.

Rgs,

Jack
