Is this a stretched VLAN?

Hi All,

I have 2 Data Centers (this is the two locations in diagram) with a private link between them as in the diagram. What I'm trying to figure out is that if one PC in say DC1 sends a broadcast - would it be heard by PCs in the other DC?

I have SVI at each end within the same subnet. Matching VLANs at each end also. Will this L2 connectivity be dependent on the actual link type that I am given between the DCs?

Thanks

Hi,

Basically you have answered this yourself.

A VLAN (normal) is a broadcast domain.
Any device broadcasting in the VLAN will be seen by all other devices in that VLAN
no matter whether its crosses an interbuilding link or not.

If you DONT want them to hear each other than I suggest that you
look into making your cross building link a Layer3 connection.
However this will involve looking at and readdressing you IP allocations
and providing adequate L3 routing between the sites.
