ISR 2811 - Problems Booting Up

Hello,

I'm having some weird issues with a 2811 router that will not boot.  I see the following output from the console.  I also hear the fan spin, then stop, and the start again.  No idea what to do...

Anyone know where to start with this one?  It's lab router that isn't covered under smartnet, so I cant call in for support on this one.

Nathan,

This looks bad. Most probably, this is a hardware issue. At first, try removing all the WIC and NM cards from the router and check if it is able to boot in a barebone configuration.

Also, if you have another 2811 router you can temporarily dismantle, I suggest trying to replace the DRAM modules, remove the AIM and PVDM modules away, even exchanging the power supply. Any of these pluggable components can be the cause of your problem, and by selectively replacing them from a working router, you may eventually find out what component has just passed away.

If nothing helps then I am afraid you are out of luck with this device.

Hello Nathan,

Router trying to boot from the flash and somehow unable to get there, on an ideal scenario it moves to ROMMON giving us an oppurtunity to bring the router back up but in this case it just cant find the track and just looping up. At this point replacement would be the best option i would go with, rather than going for troubleshooting.

Thanks for the responses gentelmen.  I will give your sugestions a shot later this week, and report back with the outcome.

It looks like the router isn't even going to boot the ROMmon.  I'd get this RMA-ed.

Remove the flash from the router and then try booting it up.

It should go into ROMMON then..

Well...none of the above worked.   I ended up just trashing the router.  Thank you for your suggestions.
