Hello,

I have the following network :

lan_topology_issue2.png

----------------------------------------------------------

My ISP provided my with the following data :

IP : 205.164.28.14

Netmask : 255.255.255.128

Gateway : 205.164.28.1

----------------------------------------------------------

I configured Gi 1/20 as an L3 port with params provided by ISP

Port Gi 1/22 is part of VLAN4

---------------------------------------------------------

The problem is : my "localpc" is not seeing the internet. I can't ping the gateway provided by my ISP (205.164.28.1)

I can ping from localpc to vlan4 (192.168.1.230). Also I can ping from localpc to L3 port (Gi 1/20) (205.164.28.14).

----------------------------------------------------------

I use : cat4500-entservicesk9-mz.122-53.SG.bin image

----------------------------------------------------------

What am I doing wrong ?

By the way, if I connect localpc to a linux router and configure the router with data provided by ISP it will have access to the internet.

By the way, from switch I can ping everything, including 205.164.28.1 and other hosts from internet

mainswitch#ping 8.8.8.8

Type escape sequence to abort.

Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 8.8.8.8, timeout is 2 seconds:

!!!!!

Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 48/52/68 ms

You would have to perform NAT on the Catalyst, but I'm not sure the 4948-10GE knows how to do that...

4948-10GE does not supports NAT, I don't need NAT in order to connect to the Internet.

You're right about the first part - the 4948 doesn't seem to support NAT.  As for the second part... well, good luck browsing the Internet with an 192.168.x.x source IP address.
