Issue with setting up LAG with Cisco 550x stack and Vmware ESXi6 host

Hello All,

I migrated a VMware ESXi6 host form Catalyst 3750 stack to Cisco 550X stack.

I create a LAG group on the Cisco 550X stack with ports XG5/7, XG6/7 and LACP disabled. I connected  the old connections and it all seamed to work.

I decided to check the fail-over and done the fallowing test:

  1. Disconnected XG5/7 - No lost of connectivity
  2. Reconnected XG5/7 - One ping timeout
  3. Disconnected XG6/7 - No lost of connectivity
  4. Reconnected XG6/7 - Lost Connectivity
  5. Disconnected XG6/7- Connectivity is back
  6. Reconnected XG6/7 - Lost Connectivity
  7. Disconnected XG5/7 - Connectivity is back
  8. Reconnected XG5/7 - One ping timeout
  9. Disconnected XG6/7- No lost of connectivity
  10. Reconnected XG6/7 - Lost Connectivity
  11. Disconnected XG5/7 - Connectivity is back
  12. Reconnected XG5/7 - One ping timeout

So for some strange reason if XG6/7 is down and come back the connection to the host is lost. The only way to have both working again is to disconnect XG5/7 and reconnect it.

Did someone has any idea what this could be ?

Hi,

I am not familiar with the X550 switches, but can you post your config?
