Hi,
With switches 2960X jumbo frames can be activate in all ports, but i want use this per vlan, i mean i want to use mtu 9000 (connect to SAN) per vlan.
What cisco models can use jumbo frames per vlan?

Hi,
On smaller switches like 2960x, 3560, 3850, etc.. you can only enable jumbo frames globally for the entire switch. Usually on distro/core switches like 4500, 6500, 6800, etc.. it can be done per port.

I think is a lot of money for only connect a SAN.
DELL MD3200i requires a switch with jumbo frames per vlan (that said support) but.... i prefer stay with mtu 1500 and regular speed than pay a core switch.

Most storage vendors require you to enable jumbo frames on your switches connecting to their storage devices.

If, on a 2960X, you enable jumbo globally, it doesn't mean all your VLANs have to actually use it, just that they all will accept a jumbo frame. If that's unacceptable, perhaps some kind of ACL could block jumbo frames on VLANs or ports you don't want to allow.
I don't recall all what switches might limit jumbos per VLAN, per jumbo configuration. I recall 6500s support MTU settings per interface.

the problem with enable jumbo frames globally is with other servers in switches......they become slow.
