Hi Ajay,
It is completely depends on the organization size and your willing to work on the issues.
In some organization L1 will do below things..
1. Monitor the enterprize network.
2. If he found any alerts he will simply update to next level L2.
3. Acknowledge the daily incidents.
4. If he interested to work on the issue, he can work and provide correct resolutions...But this will happen in some organization not in all organization as per the process.
5. Coordinating for first level issues with providers like link down and all.
L2 Engineers will do below things...
1. Preparing network diagrams.
2. Work on the incidents like...IP address allocate, port enabling / disabling, vlan assign to particular port, permission grant to any subnet or single IP and etc.,
3. Time to time coordinate with onsite team to troubleshoot end users issues and for any physical help.
4. Preparing reports like link utilization, weekly reports and etc.,
5. Proper coordination with cisco TAC for any issues.
6. Still L2 engineer can work on any new projects like new site commission....and again it depends on organization process.
7. L2 engineer need to give proper training to L1 engineer wherever needed.
8. L2 engineer will have some health checks specially in network like.....clearing cache, observing cpu utilization, routing table and traffic utilization on important links.
And still he have Curiosity to learn new things he can do and again it depends on the organization process.
Hope this clear you...
