Hello!
I've spent quite a while on the Internet so far trying to find whether WS-X4548-RJ45V+ Catalyst 4500 PoE+ Ready 10/100/1000, 48-Port (RJ45) switch supports VLAN and how many trunk ports it has. However, no matter where I've looked so far, it only mentions the 48 RJ45 ports, without any mentions of the trunk ports and / or VLAN support. I am new into networking and am doing this as recreating a real life scenario (virtually), but without much luck.
Another thing concerns me is whether it features any optical ports.

Cisco 4500 E is recommended, also I would like to mention that optical modules can support Fiber and Ethernet (copper) through SFP's.
This link can be useful to know what SFP can be supported per model.

And this link can help you to select a proper switch:

Hello,
all 48 ports can be configured as trunk ports. Trunking is a software feature, not a hardware feature.
The 4500 supports extended VLANs, so you can configure up to 4096 VLANs.

Adding to Georg comment, usually the switches can support around 4094 VLANs. The module WS-X4548-RJ45 supports just Ethernet ports. The number of trunk interfaces is relative to the number of density of ports on a switch or chassis.

Hello,
After I went ahead and took a bit more into details of the whole series, it looks the "GB" version (WS-X4548-GB-RJ45) does support optical solutions. If not for that one, which L3 switch would you suggest me to use?

Hi
If you have a chassis, you could use modules for SFP, now if you want a standalone switch that supports just SFP (optical) you can consider Cisco 3850-24S-S.
May I know the model of your chassis?
Also check this link, it could be useful:

Actually, I haven't decided on chassis. Perhaps Catalyst 4500 Enhanced.
I assume that there's no switch that supports both classic and optical (SFP) solutions.
As for the link, thank you. That is actually where I've found the WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 model.
