LAN port speed issue

                   I am facing port speed issue on WS-C2960G-48TC-L series switch.This switch gig0/X ports connected to onother switches (Cisco and HP both switches are also gigbit ports and directly connected ).but interface is giving only 100mb/s output.

ios on WS-C2960G-48TC-L is 12.2(44)SE6

Hello ,

If the the connected switches ports are gig's, please configure the both ports to duplex and speed to 1000.

example:

sw# int gig 1/0/1

sw# speed 1000  / or you can set  speed as auto

sw# duplex full / or auto

sw#end

i was configured speed 1000 and duplex auto .port down once i configurd .

at present speed auto and duplex full on both sides.

please try these commands on that interface and post the config

1.  Command:  test cable tdr interface Gig0/x

2.  Wait for approximately 5 to 7 seconds;

3.  Command:  sh cable tdr interface Gig0/x and

4.  Please post the output

If i will run above comands,port is up or down because it is in production network and around 300 users are connected .Please conform my network will effect if i will run above comands

ur cable is faulty. all the pair suppose to be normal for Gig interface.

check this out.please try to replace it and try again.

Result	Explaination
Normal	Ideal result you want. If testing FastEthernet, you want Pair A and B as “Normal”. If testing GigabitEthernet, you want ALL as “Normal”.
Open	Open circuit. This means that one (or more) pair has “no pin contact”.
Short	Short circuit.
Impedance Mismatched	Bad cable.

Hello,

As I can see For sh cable tdr int gi1/0/44

Cable length is between almost 90 metres.  The test can "see" Pair A and B are normal.  Pair c is used for POE and its seems to normal as well but Pair "D" supports GigabitEthernet which is open and not good so it suppose to be normal.

sh cable tdr int gi1/0/45

this interface seems to normal

sh cable tdr int gi1/0/43

for this interface Pair C is open so it means POE is not working but Pair D is normal and support Gig interface

Gig interface, I will never (ever) take a cable unless all four pairs are tested Normal.

So please try to change the cable for int gi1/0/44, which shows Gig interface OPEN.
