Layer 2 vs Layer 3 Ethernchannels

Is there a difference in speed

I have a 6 370G stack and a 2 3750G stack. They are etherchannled by 4 Gig SFP ports (4 Gig uplink) to eachother.

Its set as Layer 2 etherchannel.

If I setup Layer 3 etherchannel, will it be faster and how do I do it?

I would think you would see very little difference most conversations are now hardware switched in the asics even for layer 3 .
