we have a C2960-48PST-S and are attempting to enable IP routing. However when we enter the command to enable IP Routing the system does not recognize the command. we have attempted to flash it to a newer firmware to see if that resolves the issue but have not been able to correct the problem. Please see below for switch info below.

I recall "lite" only supports L2.  You may need LANBASE (which might not be available for your switch).

C2960-48PST-S is layer 2 switch, it will not support layer 3 features.

Did you change the SDM Template to enable routing?

Read this:  Configuring Static IP Unicast Routing

Dear eliezecruz1,

This switch is a Layer 2 switch and its does not support IP routing functionality due to which it says "system does not recognize this command". Flashing to a new firmware won't resolve your issue since this switch does not support IP routing functionality. How ever you can perform inter vlan routing using this switch between vlan's but for that you will have to user a router other than a switch.

Hope this helps

Regards,

Talha

Hi Talha,

Go HERE and it states:  The switch supports 16 static routes (including user-configured routes and the default route) and any directly connected routes and default routes for the management interface. The switch can have an IP address assigned to each SVI. Before enabling routing, enter the sdm prefer lanbase-routing global configuration command and reload the switch.
