Hi all

For a fault on the phone line, my provider replaced the DSLAM  connected to my router and now I can not get more to connect to the internet.

I always get the following error:

LOCAL:Max noise margin for power cutoff 31

DSL(ATM0): Using ITU sync first for 5 secs, then ANSI/ITU sync alternatively for 2 secs

Modem state = 0x9

Modem state = 0x9

Modem state = 0x10

DSL(ATM0): Received response: 0x22

DSL(ATM0): Open failed: Protocol error received -- retrying

DSL(ATM0): Using subfunction 0x0

LOCAL:Max noise margin for power cutoff 31

DSL(ATM0): GPCI[0] 0x5

DSL(ATM0): GPCI[1] 0x9

DSL(ATM0): GPCI[2] 0x1

DSL(ATM0): GPCI[3] 0x0

DSL(ATM0): Sent extended command 0x3

DSL(ATM0): 1: Modem state = 0x9

DSL(ATM0): 2: Modem state = 0x9

DSL(ATM0): 3: Modem state = 0x10

DSL(ATM0): Received response: 0x22

DSL(ATM0): Open failed: Protocol error received -- retrying

I have read several forums and I can not figure out what is the problem:

Some says it could be a hardware problem

Some says that I must upgrade my software router's IOS  (my version is: Cisco IOS Software, C870 Software (C870-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T13)

Some says  to change:

int atm0

dsl operating-mode auto

to:

int atm0

dsl operating-mode ansi-dmt

Please help me to understand the real problem.

By mistake I posted my question to Small Business Support Community Instead of Small Business Routers.

Please excuse me.
