LX gbic into Multimode fibre, then single mode fibre

Hi all

I have noticed in my network, I have a LX gbic, this launches into a 50/125 mmf fibre, which then patches into a patch panel running 9u single mode fibre, it seems to be working fine, is this normal?

Not exactly normal. However many combination of fiber and optics do work even if it is not the optimal configuration.
