MAC Address Based Bandwidth Limitation (Nexus 5624Q)

Hi,

For a research project, we are searching for a suitable 40 Gbps L2 switch. Nexus 5624Q is one of the candidates. We haven't any experience with Cisco products.

My question is that is it possible to limit bandwidth based on mac addresses? In our case, we will have more than one node connected to each port therefore limitation should not be based on physical port. Can we configure the switch such that MAC#1 gets 5 Gbps, MAC#2 gets 10 Gbps at maximum? Can we set the scheduling algorithm based on MAC addresses?

Thanks.

Best,

Alper

Hi,

It does not appear that you can rate limit based on MAC address or layer-2 vlan.  The only option I see is rate limiting per interface.  See this document
