MAC address hops between trunks but does not trace back to a specific port

Forum,

I am having difficulty hunting down a MAC address on two connected, trunked switches.

What I am referencing more specifically is the following:

I know the IP address of a device on my network, so i ping it from one of the two connected, trunked swithces and receive a response.  Then i do a

"sho arp | i 8.59 (last two octets of IP) and it gives me back:

0219300STK01#sho arp | i 8.59
Internet 10.21.8.59 8 787b.8ac8.41d5 ARPA Vlan108

Then i do a

"sho mac add | i 41d5" and it gives me back:

0219300STK01#sho mac add | i 41d5
108 787b.8ac8.41d5 DYNAMIC Te1/1/8

This port Te1/1/8 is the trunk port that connects to the other switch.

The next step i take is to log into the other switch.  I repeat the process on that connected switch and it then

points me back to the trunk port that connects back to the switch i started on.

I am not able to find the port that my device with IP ending in 8.59 is connected to..

Thanks for any input..
