Maintain N-1 IOS release Management

I need to upgrade to N-1  Release for WS-C2960-24PC-L
what should be the N-1 IOS version for this model please

Current IOS is "flash:/c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE4/c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE4.bin"

Use the latest of either 12.2(55)SE or 15.0(2)SE train.

just wondering when saying N/N-1 terminology does this mean major release or latest and lower latest in the last Major release

N-1 means the version BEFORE the latest one.

So does 'N' refer to the Maintenance Rebuild number and not the Major or Minor version number?

"N" is a mathematical factor.  Insert the latest version in "N" and use/deploy the version before that.  That is what everyone means by "N-1".

Also, I cannot find any Cisco documentation regarding a Cisco N-1 Policy for IOS and IOS-XE software, so if you could share a link to that 'Cisco N-1 Policy' it would be much appreciated.
