Can you please let me know the maximum number of ports that could be bundled in etherchannel using LACP and also PAgP?
What is the difference between etherchannel and portchannel?

8 for pagp and 4 for lacp , no difference etherchannel is portchannel

An etherchannel can be created with a maximum of 8 ports with an additional 8 backup ports.

Are you sure the document you referenced that states 4 maximum ports for lacp is accurate? I have not heard that restriction before and there are other documentation that states lacp supports 8 ports.

Never had more than 4 in 1 etherchannel so i cant say from experience would have to check but from what your saying i checked again and yes theres other docs saying that you can have 8 , that could be just specific to that version of IOS i didnt check against chasis just checked maximum allowed ports specific for LACP and that came up
