Maximum number of switches - Stackwise Virtual C9500-40X-A

Currently scratching my head to figure out the maximum number of switches Stackwise Virtual can support.

Current documentation states 2, but would it be possible to stack 4x C9500-40X-A Switches via Stackwise, into one logical device?

Nope. Stackwise virtual/VSS can support only a stack of two appliances.

Thanks, would you know if the C9400 series will be receiving VSS/ Stackwise Virtual in the future?

9400 will, in the roadmap, will support Stackwise Virtual.
Note: The term "Stackwise Virtual" is a marketing term. Stackwise Virtual is an IOS-XE term for what VSS is to IOS.
