MD5 verify for Cisco IOS image bin file

Hi,

I hope you may be able to help us if possible, please...

Would you be able to tell me what the MD5 Checksum should be, for the following CISCO  IOS image (bin) file:

me380x-universalk9-mz.156-2.SP5.bin

Cisco web-site gives the MD5 Checksum for the .tar file, but not for the .bin file; I have done an extract on the .tar file, and I am required to do a verify of the MD5 on the .bin file, to ensure it is intact and correct.

 Appreciate your help with this.

Hi there,

If the MD5 hash for the tar matches the value which is posted on the cisco download site, you can be certain to a extremely high degree that the contents are indeed what was bundled by cisco.

To totally mitigate the unlikely scenario of a MD5 hash collision having occurred, check against the SHA512 hash instead.

If that is not sufficient, then maybe raise a call with TAC and see if the relevant BU will give the hash for the .bin file. They will probably echo the statement above.

cheers,

Seb.

Hmmmm ... The website only has the TAR file and the MD5 hash is "471e8c75e6cd2fafbffc2da2cad587f2".
