Hi there,
I currently have a 6500 with SUP2/MSFC2 running CATOS on the SUP and IOS on the MSFC. It currently has 128MB of DRAM and I would like to change the 6500 to run in native mode, however I need a memory upgrade on it to at least 256. I want to put a 512MB stick in it however I am unsure of what I need to upgrade? Is it the SUP or the MSFC RAM or both? Or am I being mistaken and they use the same memory module? Even better, can someone give me a part number?
Thanks heaps in advance.
Cheers
Totally Confused!
Cheers

Hi Adam
You need to upgrade both Supervisor and MSFC2 DRAM. They use different memory modules
For MSFC2 you can order MEM-MSFC2-256MB= or MEM-MSFC2-512MB=
For supervisor MEM-S2-256MB=
Hope this helps

Hi to everyone, I would like to ask if I can install a RAM memory 'MEM-MSFC2-512MB' on a supervisor engine 2 (I know that the product name for sup2 RAM memory is MEM-2U-512MB) . The specifications of both RAM memory seem the same (DRAM,speed, numbers of pins,etc...)

Hi,
I tried to install the RAM named MEM-MSFC2-512MB on a supervisor engine 2 (product name WS-X6K-SUP2-2GE) e it works!
So now I have 512 MB of RAM on both SUP2 end MSFC2.
Just to know I had some problem with the supervisor's boot register because it booted in rommonitor state. I set it in 0x2102 like the msfc2's boot register.
(To know the supervisor's boot register, the command is "remote command switch show bootvar", but I changed by rom-monitor console)
Bye to everyone!
Giorgio
