Meraki switch random reboot

Hi Team,

We have quite a few 9200 switches in the Meraki portal running firmware IOS XE 17.15.5. Recently, we have noticed that some switches are randomly rebooting.

The switches had been operating normally on the same firmware version for quite some time, and this issue has only started occurring recently.

Hi, we are in the same boat. We have multiple 9200 and 9300 switches rebooting randomly as well.

We raised a support case, and it appears to be a bug that is expected to be addressed in IOS XE 17.18.3. However, 17.18.3 is not currently a recommended release, so we are unsure whether to upgrade or simply wait for an updated recommended version.

please see below TAC note.

There are clearly some bugs in 17.15.5, yet it is still listed as the recommended firmware, which is quite frustrating.

Please, if this post was useful, leave your kudos and mark it as solved.

Do not be fooled into believing the release is a stable release.  It is not and each TAC engineer (not agent) privately believes that the releases is NOT to be taken at face value.

I've always maintained the belief that IOS-XE is as buggy AF.  I also practice what I preach and our stacks get reloaded every 8 to 12 months to minimize the chance of a memory leak in the control-plane which, coincidently, is not being monitored.

Thanks, we will raise a TAC case as well and see what they say

@amrin_au can you share the logs on which they presumed that there is a bug? Or do you have a bug ID?

I have somewhat the some that a stack of 9200 crashes when using 17.18.2 they said this would we resolved in 26.1.1 so I'm reluctant to upgrade 9200 to 17.18.3. It's only affecting switches in Cloud Configuration mode in Meraki. In my case it had to do with DBAL process.
