Meraki vs Catalyst

If I were to replace (25) 3560 switches, what Meraki model would you suggest for an enterprise environment. I'm looking for stacking switches with 48 PoE ports.

If you only need layer 2 support, the MS225.  If you want redundant power supplies then the MS250.

If you want layer 3 then the MS350.  I'm a particular fan of the MS350-24X.  It has 4 x SFP+ 10Gbe ports,  8 x MGig ports (aka you can plug in 10GBaseT and Gigabit), and 16 ordinary Gigabit ports.  It is also PoE.

Note that stacking cables don't ship with Meraki switches.  You have to order them separately.

If all the switches come back to a central place, you could consider aggregating them with a 10 Giagbit only switch, like the MS425.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm new to Meraki (been using Catalyst forever) and was wondering if there are any suggested links to architectural diagrams/designs for an enterprise environment using Meraki access switches, how to manage the switches, suggested core switches, etc.

I'll take a look at the MS350/MS425 line.

A great place to start would be watching one of the switching webinars.  These can be found here:

You'll be blown away.

Thank you! I'll take a look.

Hi,

Jus to add on Philp comments, Meraki solution is purely a centralise club based platform compare to traditional cisco world.

You can think all products like MX Series ,MS series and wireless product , just plug on network and with zero touch proviso they would be good to go for serving live traffic.

Hope it Helps..
