Module 15 reset from Status Poll

Hi,

the CAT 6k5 (SUP2-2GE) periodic reload MSFC2 without User activity, following message appears in CAT logging buffer:

-Module 15 reset from Status Poll//

CAT 6k5 runs with CatOS - 8.2(2), MSFC2  with IOS - 12.1(20)E.

CAT 6k5 CPU load - 2%

MSFC2 CPU load - 4%

sh test all (Diagnostic mode complete) - ALL OK.

Any Ideas what the reason is?

Hi,

The error indicates that the supervisor module reset the routing module (MSFC) due to loss of a keepalive packets that flows between the sup and MSFC.  Possible causes are the cpu was to busy on the MSFC to process the keeaplive, the traffic was dropped on the channel between the two components.

In order to rule out a hw issue, we can reset the modules with diagnostics set to the complete.  This will also reprogramall the hardware asics which may help. 

• set diagnosic level complete
• Reset the supervisor.

When the sup is back up.

• sh test
