I'm trying to get the traffic going accross a vlan interface to be sent to another port(spanning)

I'm getting the following

Cat6513(config)#monitor session 5 source vlan 100

% Local Session limit has been exceeded

why?

How many SPAN sessions do u have at same time ?

Your SUP has probably exceeded its threshold of allowed sessions.

show monitor session all, will give u a summary.

Cat6513#sh monitor session all

Session 1

---------

Type : Local Session

Source Ports :

Both : Gi9/1,Gi9/7-9,Gi10/1-2,Gi10/5,Gi10/10

Destination Ports : Gi9/2

Session 2

---------

Type : Local Session

Source Ports :

Both : Gi9/1,Gi9/8,Gi10/1,Gi10/5

Destination Ports : Gi9/37,Gi10/6

I only have two

Then 2 is the limit.

see below for session limit per SUP type.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/span.html#wp1102614

when testing I get more or less same message.

% This platform allows a maximum of 2 concurrent sessions with RX sources and

% 4 concurrent sessions with TX sources. (Bidirectional sources count as

% both RX and TX; remote VLAN sources count as RX.)

Try removing session you don't need or park it temporarily while you test.
