Hi,
From one server I am not able to ping to another server in same vlan (same switch).
this does not happen all the times.
sometimes i am able to ping to some servers. after sometimes i am not able to ping to same severs (servers which responded for ping few minutes back)
Default gateway for all the servers is the interface of Firewall.
since i am trying to ping to servers in same vlan, i believe traffic is not forwarded to firewall.
the issue lies on switch or firewall?
Please help me to sort out the issue.
Regards
Vinod

Hello Vinod,
the firewall should not be involved if the correct subnet mask is configured on the server
so check ip address and subnet mask of the server
also check over time the ARP table of the server and compare the entries for the other servers with the other servers MAC addresses
if ARP entries are correct and do not change over time you should check the lan switch
Hope to help

Hi Vinod,
As both the servers are connected with same switch,Just check out the few things as they should ping each other if they are in same vlan.
Check out the arp entry in switch
Check out any firewall or any inbuilt anitivirus which is blocking the traffic in the servers
Are you able to self ping the server ineterface and from switch are you able to ping both the servers.
and as suggested check out the subnet mask for both the servers also.
Hope to Help !!
