If im pinging the multicast IP address 224.0.0.1 from my machine what will be my reply.

all hosts inside your subnet should respond if not blocked by a firewall.

im getting reply from 2 unix box not all the machines in my subnet

You will only get responses from IP stacks that support muticast IP.
