I am having the following issue and hope an expert could help me.
In our network for ca. 500 Users there are two Cores (active/backup) and one Server Switch with c4500 series Switch. Recently my boss was asking whether it is possible to convert & configure the Server Switch as the 3rd Core (3 cores or Multicore network) without any significant cons.
My suggestion was not to configure/convert the Server Switch as the Core, because of Data-Security and configuration & management complexity.
Is there anyother potential pros & cons of doing this?
I would be thankful to your advice.

Hello
Why would you want to?
It seems you already have and active/backup core which suggests you are not LB between them so personally adding a 3rd one would be a waste of expense and really not a viable solution

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your suggestions.
Actually the suggested 3rd Core is already active in network as server switch (all windows and linux servers are connected) and this switch needs to be configured as 3rd core to participate in LB with active core and the backup core will remain as asusual.
The question is, whether any data security issue or other disadvantages configuring the Server Switch as an additional core.
