can anybody explain me (or point me to some document) the difference between HWIC-1FE/2FE vs HWIC-4ESW ?
I mean, I know the 4ESW acts a switch but, if I want just a second outside port on my 1841, can I use the 4ESW instead of the 1FE ?
a quick glance at eBay is showing the 1FE costing more than tree times than the 4ESW and that's it ... JUST one port :S
it seems I missing something fundamental ...

Nacho,
You can go for HWIC-4ESW. It acts like a layer3 switch. You just configure ip addresses on the vlan interface. You can now use the physical port on the switch to be second outside.
HWIC-1FE/2FE is what we call Layer3 interface(routed interface). Just like a built-in ethernet interface on your C1841.
Here you go:
1FE costing more than tree times than the 4ESW
Seems we have to decide how to buy the right thing. (grin)
