Hi
I recently came to know that we need netflow services card (WS-F4531) for configuring the netflow on 4503 switch. Is the same required for Flexible NetFlow configurations.

Hello Ibrahim,
Netflow was not supported on 4500 unless you added the WS-F4531 card that you mentionned (Suported on SUPERVISORs IV and V).
For the SUPERVISOR V-10GE, the classic Netflow functions are built-in (no need to add the Netflow service card)..
Then came the SUP-7(E or LE) & 4500X which are the first platforms to support Flexible Netfow (native functions - no need to add any additional service card).
=========================================================
Please find some elements about the differents advantages.
Q. What are the key advantages of Flexible NetFlow above traditional NetFlow?
A.
• Flexibility, scalability, aggregation of flow data beyond today's NetFlow.
• The ability to monitor a wider range of IP packet information from layer 2 to 7
• Enhanced network anomaly and security detection
• User configurable flow information to perform customized traffic identification and the ability to focus and monitor specific network behavior
• Convergence of multiple accounting technologies into one accounting mechanism
=========================================================
Hope that helps.
Regards.
