Network intermitting problem.

Dear Cisco Switch Community;

Our Network Dept.  is currently experiencing a networking intermitting problem which causes users to not have connectivity to their outlook mail services.  This  occurs for a random number of different users for different periods of time.  Packets loss was captured from higher up support and indicated that the connection leading from our Cisco Catalyst 9300 24S port 0/2, connecting to our encryption device is where the problem might reside.  The question of concerns is that the SOP that we are currently using for our fiber connection may not be compatible with the Cisco switch in use.

The SOP we are currently using is as follows:

GLC SX-MMD      EXT

10-3033-01 LN# 50 6/2007

CLASS 21CFR 1040.10

MADE IN SGP  E134

SN# AGV@#06S4XX

We look for to hearing back form you on this Networking issue & that for your time & attention to this discussion thread.

Affecting ONLY Outlook Mail?  Is this correct?
When this issue is occurring, how about web browsing or network drives, etc?

(BTW, do you know you are CCNP R&S?)

Thanks for the reply;

Not affecting our local drives, just outlook and external traffic.

Thanks

For a CCNP in R&S, what troubleshooting have you done?

The Networks Dept. has preformed the following:

1.  Check all Network problems that may relate to the OSI model Layer 1,2 & 3

2.  Ran multiple ping -t  tests on the devices that had connectivity issues/pings were replied successful

3.  Had OSP (Outside plant test fiber & replace fiber/SOP were also swapped)

4.  Being a contractor, we do not have full access to Layer 3, this is handled by higher up management who pinpointed the failed connection.

Note:  Like I mentioned in the 1st trouble thread, this problems does not continually happen & I don't think is has anything to do with Layer 1 or the switch itself.

Thanks

The Network Team

Look, I am asking this question because I do not want to waste time double-up troubleshooting something someone has already done.

I need to know the layout of the network.  I need to know more about the issue other than "just outlook and external traffic".

Please provide more "actionable" information.  Like I said, you're suppose-to-be CCNP in R&S but the information you've provided is very "novice".

This is one of the smaller contracts I'm assigned too.  I'm not allowed to give you additional information on our Network Diagram.  Yes, I'm aware that I currently hold a CCNP & troubleshoot XVLAN VRF-Lite, MPLS & Policy Based routing.  Hopefully you can achieve your CCNP one day.  I don't need any further assist since our Network issue has just been resolved.
