I have a server that goes through a switch asa switch then a pc. The server and PC are on two different subnets (vlans). I can ping and do a traceroute fine, but if If try to put a large file from the server to the PC it starts but then the transfer dies about 1/2 way through the transfer. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What do you mean by "switch asa switch" ?
Is there an ASA in the path as well?
Also, can you please include a diagram.

You need to find out where the problem resides.
1. Attach a pc to the 3750G switch and do same transfer to server.
2. Attach a a different pc to the 3560 and do same transfer.
3. Attach a pc to the 3750g and do a tranfer from PC to PC.
4. Is the Server connected to a SAN?
5. Check interface statistics, errors, "show proc cpu"
6. Check controller statistics, "show controllers ethernet-controller gigabitEthernet 1/0/1"
7. Check firewall logging and run a debug.

It looks like UDP port 138 is being discarded
7 Jul 25 2008 12:47:03 710005 172.23.212.103 172.23.212.255 UDP request discarded from 172.23.212.103/137 to Dev_Remote_users_212:172.23.212.255/137
We have a rule in place that allows all ip to 172.23.212.0 to 172.23.2.0. I dont understand why the broadcast is being blocked.
