new vlan

Hi All,

We added a new vlan 101 to one of the switches. This vlan doesn't exist anywhere else on the network so far.

on the switch that this is being added to, there was also a port assigned to this vlan.

But, the output shows no stp instance for this vlan. Is it because the port this vlan is assigned to is not up and has nothing connected to it yet.

vlan 101

name App_test

interface Ethernet151/1/11
  description App1
  switchport access vlan 101
  spanning-tree port type edge
  spanning-tree guard root

sh spanning-tree vlan 101
Spanning tree instance(s) for vlan does not exist.

Please help. Appreciate all inputs.

Yes you must have at least 1 interface up in the vlan for the STP instance to be created on the switch
