So I've always just had unmanaged switched.... 4 port TPlink POE stuff but I was gifted one of the 3650 switches.
I'm thinking it might not be plug and play as I know it acts as its own DCHP server / vLAN management etc which I don't need since the router downstairs is doing the DHCP magic....
Is there anything I need to know about how just to get it up and running... I'd liket to replace my 4 port TPlink with it but I'm unsure about the config I will need to do to get it up and going.
I should also mention I don't currently have ethernet for my laptop so Express Config might be out the window...
Thanks

If you want a switch to get the job done, just use the TPlink. But If you're gonna use the 3650 as a layer 2 switch you shouldn't have to do much unless it's previously configured. Simply delete or disable all layer 3 interface (SVIs) and it won't be able to provide DHCP service. If the router is the DHCP and the default gateway of the network, just make sure that the VLAN on the port you're connecting to matches the uplink of the switch and that the router has an interface with a network and a DHCP pool.

Hi,
To my knowledge there is no "Cisco Catalyst 3650CG 8 port POE switch". Your box MAY be Cisco Catalyst 3560CG-8PC-S switch however. If so please find the Hardware Installation Guide and the Getting Started Guide for the unit as per beneath:
Best regards,
Antonin
