Nexus 5000 MAC Address problem causing OSPF to Fail

Hi,

In a design where two VRFs are configured on the same Nexus 5548UP on two different VLANs, bridged together with a firewall running in bridged mode, as shown on the figure below :

Both VRF must establish an OSPF Adjascency. The problem is that both VRF use the same MAC address on both VLAN ! Of course, it cannot work.

So my questions :

  • Why the Nexus 5000 uses the same MAC address on both VLAN interface and not a interface specific MAC out of a pool, like the Catalyst ? This is in my opinion a severe limiting factor while designing a network that takes advantage of network virtualization..

  • Is it possible to set the MAC address manually (locally administrated address) on a VLAN interface (as in a catalyst) ?

Thank you for any hints,

Yves
