I just setup a Cisco Air 1142 in autonomous mode. Seems to be working just fine, but if I try to join the 5Ghz WiFi is does not give out an IP address. 2.4Ghz is working as it should. Below is the current config, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

You are associating 5Ghz with vlan 30 and bridge group 30. But I do not see anything that associates any IP with them. I would have thought that there would be something like BVI30 to do this.

So would this work:
no BVI1
BVI30
ip address 192.168.1.27 255.255.255.0
no bridge-group 1
no bridge-group 1 subscriber-loop-control
no bridge-group 1 spanning-disabled
no bridge-group 1 block-unknown-source
Sorry a little new to Access points.

Access points are not a particular area of strength for me either. But it seems to me that if you remove BVI1 and replace it with BVI30 that you will impact the 2.4Ghz. Perhaps we should start by clarifying what you are trying to achieve. Do you want the 2.4 and the 5 Ghz to use different IP subnets? Or do you want them both in the same subnet? If you want two subnets then I believe that you will need two bridge groups and two BVIs. If you want them in the same subnet then there would be one bridge group used on both and one BVI.

Ok, so I have this now (after some Googling), but when I join the 5Ghz it doesn't give me an IP. Am I missing something here?

When you have configured bridge irb and have bridge group 1 then it expects to communicate using BVI 1. And when you have bridge group 10 then it expects to communicate using BVI 10. So let me repeat my question from an earlier response: "Perhaps we should start by clarifying what you are trying to achieve. Do you want the 2.4 and the 5 Ghz to use different IP subnets? Or do you want them both in the same subnet?" The answer to that question should indicate whether you want one bridge group or two bridge groups. Until that is clarified we will not be able to determine which is the correct configuration.

Sorry my bad for not answering that. Same subnet, just different freq for the same network.
02-01-2017 11:43 AM
Thank you for the clarification. In this case you need only a single bridge group and a single BVI. Both radios use the same bridge group and the same BVI.

Rick
