No enable secret still asks for password

Hallo,

2960x switch here.

I would like to remove enable password so I did: "no enable secret".
However now after trying to run command "enable", it asks for a password (not the old one) that I don't know.
I kept another active session so I didn't lock me out.

How can I remove the password so when I run command "enable" it doesn't ask for password ?

Thanks

Hello bevdaamrut,

After removing the enable secret password....save the configuration and restart the switch...

Switch(config)# no enable secret xxxxxx

Switch(config)# exit

Switch# write memory or  Switch# copy running-config startup-config

Switch# reload

 Best regards

To remove the enable password prompt on your 2960x switch, use the following steps. Enter global configuration mode with "configure terminal," remove the enable password with "no enable password," exit configuration mode, and verify that neither enable password nor enable secret is configured using "show run | include enable." Save the configuration with "write memory" to make the changes permanent. After completing these steps, the "enable" command should not request a password.
