no sub-interface, encapsulation option

I am trying to configure a 2621 with sub-interfaces, however I do not have the encapsulation option under the sub-interface "encapsulation dot1q #" .... IOS version is 12.2.

I would guess this is a limitation of the IOS. However, I am not certain.

you have "ip only" IOS c2600-i-

you need "ip plus" c2600-is-
