Is it normal for ntp settings to disappear after a reload? I do the following, and then after a reload, the settings have disappeared in the config:
------------------------------------
router#config t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
router(config)#ntp server us.pool.ntp.org
Translating "us.pool.ntp.org"...domain server (8.8.8.8) [OK]
router(config)#ntp update-calendar
router(config)#end
router#write
Building configuration...
[OK]
router#show run
....
....
ntp update-calendar
ntp server us.pool.ntp.org
end
------------------------------------
As you can see, its in the config. However, after doing a reload, both ntp lines disappear. Is this normal?

What model switch or router do you have?

Hi,
This could be because of some bug. Please specify the switch and the IOS you are using.

I have the same problem, on WS-C2960S-48LPS-L with 15.0(1)SE. I'm checking to see if it's having trouble resolving the names at boot.

I would recommend putting the IP Address of the NTP servers instead of names.

leolaohoo is right. Please notice that when you restart router config is executed first and only than interfaces are changing state to up. In other words there is no way DNS translation can take place. Use IP addresses for now and look for better solution. I suggest to configure warm-reboot it will speed up reloading process.

I've run into the same issue on IOS 15.4.m1 when referencing a DNS based NTP server target. Seems like a common thread. Note, my NTP configuration would disappear without a reload necessarily. Seems like a bug regardless.
