OIR - X6708-10GE DFC not identical to system PFC

Hi !

I've tried to install an 8-Port 10GE Module into a 7613 chassis (at Slot 11) . Supervisor is SUP720-3B.

But the system reports the following:

%OIR-SP-6-DOWNGRADE_EARL: Module 11 DFC installed is not identical to  system PFC and will perform at current system operating mode.

Does this mean DFC and PFC are incompatible ? and operate at a lower performance ? or even without DFC ?

Hi,

what is the part# of the module?

If you are using 8 port 10Gig (WS-X6708-10G) then you need Sup-720-3C or 3C-XL

This message indicates that the Distributed Forwarding Card (DFC) module is at a higher hardware version than the level of the system DFC. The DFC module operates at the same level as that of the system DFC.

It should work OK, although you could lose some functionality.
