Operating Temperature Catalyst / Nexus Switches

Hey, I started monitoring our catalyst 2960 / Nexus 5000 Switches the temperature readings I get from the Catalyst switches is between 40° and 45°C. The official documentation states a maximum operation temperature of 45°C

But what exacly is the operation temperature? Is it the Air-Temp in the Rack or the Temperature reading I get from the snmpwalk? The threshold values on the switch are a lot higher - that indicates that the operation temperature is the air-temp.

The Nexus Switches we have are cooled Back to front - but the psu´s are front to back. The temperature reading i get is at 50°C and the PSU Temp is at about 26/27°. The maximum operation temperature is 40°C!!

Is the Temperature so high because of the Airflow?
