Hi Rodrigo,

Check  out the ospf version configured for vlans, check out the below link on ospf error message recieved

Ganesh, Rodrigo,

EDIT: I haven't read the OP in enough detail. Modifying the response.

The "Bad version" most probably indicates a problem at the sender. It is probable that there is a software bug at the 10.120.252.120 - the IOS most probably started sending malformed OSPF packets. Is it possible for you to restart the device?

Best regards,

Peter

Hi Peter..

We think the same that you, is posible a BUG, but we dont restart the switch 4503 without before knowing whats is the trigger this simphtom. The configuration is ok !!

I'll try to restart the switch.

Thanks

Rodrigo

Rodrigo,

I am myself not a proponent of restarts to just cure a symptom. I also love to find out what is the problem before resorting to the restart.

It would be actually very useful if you could perform a packet capture on the link/VLAN interconnecting both your switches and actually capture the OSPF packets to see whether any of them contains a different version number in its header. Normally, the Version field shall contain the value 2.

Also, instead of restarting the entire switch, you may want to restart the OSPF process, either by using the clear ip ospf proc or removing and reapplying the OSPF configuration.

In any case, please, keep us informed. This is most interesting!

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter

The device with IP 10.120.252.120 is a Cisco 4503 in the VLAN 543. with

IOS 12.2.52.SG in a Engine V.

The "Bad version" most probably indicates a problem at the sender. What

exactly is the device at 10.120.252.120? Is it a Cisco router or any other

vendor? What is the OS or firmware running at that device?

Saludos Cordiales

Hi,

I done a ios update, and reboot the switch,,  and the problem of OSPF not comeback to appear, is posible a bug. I use the last imagen available for this switch.

Thanks to every body for the help. !!!
